New Interview!

What's up guys, Sean here.

So, on Wednesday I interviewed my neighbor's son, Crescenzo Notarile.  He just happens to be a professional cinematographer with credits such as Ghost Whisperer and CSI (his IMDB page can be found HERE).  I conducted the interview, which turned out to be about 26 minutes, and I'll have it up on YouTube soon.  I still need to put in the introduction, credits etc.  He's a really nice person and he offered me an invitation to come to the set of CSI if I'm in Los Angeles and they're filming.  By the way, this is him in a screenshot from the interview:

Sickness and Power Outage

What's up guys, Sean here.

So I was sick practically the whole week. I left school at noon on Monday and I am going back Monday morning.  I had a really bad fever to go along with fatigue, coughing, sneezing, congestion, body aches, and nausea.  I didn't do any makeup work until Friday.  The miraculously, I started to get better. But then on Saturday, the power went out.  It was out for over an hour at the time of writing (Saturday December 15, 2012).  Yes the power is still out, yes I am writing this from my phone.  On another note, when I was sick I got literally nothing done, so no new advancements on any movie or tv props.

Thanks,
Sean

Castiel's Trench Coat

Hey guys, Sean here.

So with my post regarding my building of the EMF Detector from Supernatural (no, the parts have not come in yet), you may have guessed my love of the show.  This character, Castiel, wears a trench coat. The issues surrounding the exact coat are quite mysterious.  First let's get some history about the trench coat in general.  The trench coat was first produced by Burberry for British Officers during the First World War.  The classic trench coat
-is mid-calf length
-has a caped back
-epaulets
-two rows of buttons
-cuff straps

Castiel's coat has all of these except epaulets and it is about knee length.  The RPF (as mentioned before) has, luckily, identified the exact trench coat.  It is a Stafford, produced by JC Penney, tan trench coat.  It, sadly, along with the navy blue Clavin Klein tie, has been out of production for years.  Because of this, the best chance of getting it is eBay.

I decided to cosplay as Castiel when I went to my friend's house for a Supernatural marathon.  I didn't have the correct tie of coat, but it turned out pretty well.

Aliens VS. Cheerleaders

What's up guys, Sean here.

So I'm in a school play this week.  Yes, really.  It's called Aliens Vs. Cheerleaders.  I'm an aliens henchman.  And to be a good evil henchman, you need to die in the end.  Luckily that was written in the script.  The play is Sunday at 4:00 PM and on Monday at 7:00 PM.  The rehearsals have gone pretty well, but yesterday many people were missing, so it didn't go perfectly.  It a really interesting experience, considering this is my first play at my current school.  I did a few plays at my other school, before leaving the performance part and entering the technologic part of theater.  This would have to be my first play in four to five years.  I honestly didn't know it had been that long since I did a stage performance.  I hope the performances of Aliens VS. Cheerleaders go really well.

EMF Detector

What's up guys, Sean here.

Some of you may know that I love collecting movie props.  Because of that love, I joined the Replica Prop Forum (the RPF).  On May 4, 2011, a thread for the EMF (electromagnetic frequency) detector from the show Supernatural was started.  Since then it has gotten up to eight pages as of now.  They have found some of the parts used on the actual prop in the show through various screen shots and picture based measurements.  The people on the RPF have identified the exact board used for the basis of the EMF detector.  They also have identified a great source for the LEDs on the top of it.  This project may take a while, but we'll get it done.

I am planning to make one of these soon, and I'll make some (semi)regular work in progress points on the blog.  Once it is done, I'll upload a video of it on my YouTube.

Thanks,
Sean

Movies, Missouri, and Colorado

Hey guys, Sean here.

First, I'm back to posting on here weekly.
Secondly, did you hear that a guy in Missouri has been charged with planning a murder spree at a weekend showings of the new Twilight movie?  The man, Blaec Lammers, was trying to follow in the footsteps of "James Holmes' alleged shooting at a midnight showing of The Dark Knight Rises in Aurora, Colorado."  Lammers "allegedly purchased assault rifles and ammunition and planned an attack on a weekend showing of Twilight screening."

If this continues, the movie industry in particular will collapse. No one will want to go to the movie theaters in fear of being shot at.  The studios will lose substantial amounts of money and go under. The movie companies, the same companies that produce all the big television networks and music production companies at least, mainly own the main television networks. The results may impact all form of media, from television, to movies, to internet, to newspaper.  The results would be catastrophic.  The Internet will be the only thing that rises from the ashes of the death of pop culture.  The Internet, in the future, will be the only form of entertainment media.  Well, at least until the invention of direct-to-brain downloads and ocular screen implants.

Sean

SKYFALL! (Warning: Spoilers)

Whats up guys?  Sean here.
Last weekend, I saw Skyfall.  Wow.  Just, wow.  It was amazing.  I absolutely love the James Bond movies, and this was one of the top movies.  It has many dark aspect, just like the other two Bond films staring Daniel Craig.  Also, fitting with the 50th anniversary of the James Bond films this year, they have many connections with the older Bond films.  Skyfall reintroduced audiences to Moneypenny, Q, and a male M.  They also decided to include the most famous Bond car, the Astin Martin DB5.  Daniel Craig, as he was in the last two films, is great as James Bond.  The villain this time, Raoul Silva, real name Tiago Rodriguez, is played by Javier Bardem.

I highly suggest going to see this movie, even if you are not a fan of the James Bond movies.

Thanks,
Sean.

Late Post and Late Work

Hey guys, sorry I'm late with this post.  I just had a ton of late work to catch up on yesterday and the day before.  But, I have finished all of it!  And, on Friday I got assigned a project for my Film class, one that was worked on all while I was out sick by the other students, that had to be finished by midnight on Friday, but I wasn't worried.  I knew I could get it done in time, and I was right!  I got it home from the bus at about 5:30.  I started and finished filming it, but then my dad came home and went swimming.  I wanted to go swimming, so I did.  Even with that and the fact that I was a minute and a half over the limit (the assignment was a 60 second silent film), I sill got it edited and submitted by 8:30.  I call that a major success.

Sean

The Flu

Hey guy, Sean again.  Sorry I haven't been posting much, I got the flu that's been going around and now I have a sinus infection.  Great way to end a week.  I only went to school one day this last week because we had Monday off, and I got sick on Tuesday and left early.  I stayed home Wednesday-Friday.  I finally got out of the house for the first time since Tuesday on Friday afternoon to go to a doctor's appointment.  That's pretty much my entire week.

Thanks,
Sean

Welcome

What's up guys?  I'm new to the whole blogging thing and I may screw up some postings.  Don't judge.  On a side note, have you ever noticed how strange the word "blog" is?  Just look at it for a bit:

BLOG
Isn't it a weird word?

Ok, back to the point.  This blog is going to be about movies.  And a lot of stuff related to movies.  Props, costumes, models, and movies.  Can you tell I love movies?  I really do.  I love to read about movie, to make props and costumes from movies, to watch movies, but most of all, I love to make movies.

In fact, here's my youtube page.
I know I don't have that many video, but just you wait.  There'll be more.

Thanks,
Sean
